Snider, Chaney, others joining Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame

The PhiladelphiaSportsHallof Fame Foundation's second annual induction ceremony is scheduled to take place tonight at the Sheraton Society Hill.

Open to the public, the event is sold out. Set to be inducted are Tommy McDonald, Ed Snider, John Chaney, Jay Sigel, Vic Seixas, Bob Levy, Harvey Pollack, Bill Campbell and the members of the 1954 La Salle NCAA men's basketball championship team, the first team inducted into the HallofFame .

Members of last year's charter class - Bernie Parent, Joe Frazier, Chuck Bednarik, Paul Arizin and Sonny Hill - are expected to be present.

Also likely to attend are former 76er Charles Barkley, former Eagle Pete Retzlaff, Flyers head coach Ken Hitchcock and former Flyers Joe Watson, Jim Watson, Brian Propp, Bob Kelly and Gary Dornhoefer.

The evening will begin at 5:30 with a silent auction of sports memorabilia. It will include a cocktail reception, an opportunity to meet the inductees, dinner, and an induction ceremony featuring former 76ers general manager Pat Williams as master of ceremonies.

Founded in May 2002, the SportsHall of Fame Foundation serves to preserve and promote the history of Philadelphia sport.
