Hall of Fame Golf Classic to Honor Harry Kalas
PHILADELPHIA March 10, 2010 – The 2010 Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame Golf Classic is dedicated to the memory of the late Harry Kalas. Kalas, Legacy of Excellence Inductee in the Hall of Fame’s Charter Class of 2004, will be remembered at the fourth annual charity golf outing Tuesday June 1st at Huntingdon Valley Country Club.
The legendary Hall of Fame broadcaster was Master of Ceremonies at previous Hall of Fame Golf Classics, and continued his support of the organization prior to his death last April.
“This year we remember a great man who helped shape the Hall of Fame Golf Classic from its beginnings," said Golf Committee Chairman Dan Fahy Jr. “The interest and support of the Classic continues to grow and this year takes on a special meaning with the dedication to Harry.”
Participation in the Hall of Fame Golf Classic is open to the public. The Classic features Greg Luzinski as Honorary Chairman, past Hall of Fame Inductees, former Phillies and celebrity guest players matched with foursomes. Features include a Hole-in-One contest for a brand new car and a “$1 Million Hole-in-One Challenge”. Silent and Live Auctions take place throughout the day. The memorial tribute to Kalas includes dinner and a special reception featuring guest speakers.
Long-time Phillies announcer Dan Baker is master of ceremonies. Hall of Fame golfer and past-president of the PGA Jack Connelly is the host golf professional.
For the non-golfers, tickets to the “High Hopes” reception and dinner are available.
