Philadelphia Police Against FDNY in Charity Football Game at Lincoln Financial Field

The Philadelphia Police and Fire Football Club, The BLUEFLAME will play the FDNY BRAVEST, the New York City Fire Department Football team in a game March 20 at Lincoln Financial Field. The teams are members of the 15-team National Public Safety Football League (NPSFL), a union of public safety agency football teams from throughout the United States. The league includes teams from New York,
Pennsylvania, Florida, Texas, Arizona and California made up clubs from police, fire and other public safety organizations.

The March 20 game, the first between the Philly BLUEFLAME and the FDNY Bravest, will be a contest for the Philadelphia Memorial Trophy, sponsored by the Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame. Spikes Trophies of Philadelphia (http://www.gospike.com/ ph: 1.800.333.AWARD)donated the trophy, dedicated to Daniel Faulkner, Jon Redmond and Lt. Derrick Harvey. Faulkner is a Philadelphia police officer killed in the line of duty in 1981. Redmond and Harvey are Philly Fireman killed in the line of duty.

The Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame, which held its Charter Class Induction Ceremony in February, plans on using its involvement in the annual game as a way to raise funds, with proceeds going to
charity.

This year things came together rather quickly, enabling us to participate in the event and create some awareness, states the Hall of Fames Bob Cassidy. Next year, with sufficient lead time we should be able to generate plenty of publicity and attendance to raise substantial funding for such a worthy cause.”

All teams in the NPSFL have designated causes for which they raise funds. BLUEFLAME football has selected PAL, the HERO scholarship fund, and Living Flame Memorial as its charities.

The game is at 2:00 PM, Saturday March 20 and open is to the public. Admission is $7 and $10 for adults. Children under 15 are free.
