Public Nomination Process for Hall of Fame’s
8th Class Approaches Completion
PHILADELPHIA February 15, 2011 – The Public Nomination process for the Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame’s Inductee Class VIII continues. Philadelphia fans continue to voice support for their heroes as the submission deadline of February 18, 2011 approaches.
As part of its selection process, the Hall of Fame relies heavily on input from fans. Nominations are submitted online, via email, or through the US Mail.
“Public nominations give the fans a voice in our selection process. The Philadelphia sports fan’s depth and breadth of knowledge never ceases to amaze as we consistently receive nominations from all sports at every level of competition - amateur to pro”, said Dr. Pete Georgelos, a member of the Hall’s Board of Trustees and PSHOF Ballot Committee.
Top public nominees each year are included on the ballot, to be mailed to the Hall’s blue-ribbon voting body in March.
Submissions are accepted at http://www.phillyhall.org/submit_nom.asp , via email (nominees@phillyhall.net) or paper mail to: Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame, 919 N. 5th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19123. All nominations must include the nominee's accomplishments and/or contributions along with the submitter’s contact information including name, address and email.
The Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame is open to athletes, coaches, media, administrators and other contributors in all areas of professional, college, amateur, high school and youth sports. Candidates must have been born in or performed in the Philadelphia area and meet certain eligibility requirements in order to be considered.
