Philly Sports Hall Names Officers

PHILADELPHIA — The Board of Trustees of the Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame Foundation is pleased to announce its leadership officers for the coming year.  Corporate officers serve three-year terms on the Hall’s board.

Kenneth J. (Ken) Avallon has been renamed President of the Foundation.  Ken is the founder and continued driving force behind the Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame.  The Hall was initiated and incorporated as a non-profit entity in early 2002 under Ken’s leadership and vision.  Ken’s role as President will continue to set the vision and strategy for the Hall’s key initiatives.

“My goal for the coming years is to exponentially expand the breadth and depth of coverage that the Hall can reach,” said Avallon.  “I need to ensure that we are building the necessary fundraising programs, volunteerism programs, and community initiatives to keep the Hall’s vision alive and well.”

Ken is a graduate of LaSalle University, and is an Information Technology consultant in Philadelphia.  Ken and his family reside in Wyncote, Pennsylvania. Ken can be reached at: ken.avallon at phillyhall *dot* net

Stephen A. (Steve) Tallant has been named Vice President of the Foundation.  Steve has been a volunteer for the Hall since 2003, and was named to the Board in 2005.  He has been involved in numerous initiatives that the Hall has undertaken in that time, including the Hall’s annual Induction Ceremony, various community events, and internal technology infrastructure programs.

“I cannot be more thrilled to be named an Officer for the Hall,” said Tallant.  “The work we are doing, again on an all-volunteer basis at this time, is so rewarding to be a part of.  I can really see the day when this vision, combined with our effort, will lead to a beautiful Hall of Fame and Museum for Philadelphia.”

Steve is a graduate of Villanova University, and is Director of Product Management for Princeton Softech, an IBM Company.  Steve and his family reside in Norristown, Pennsylvania.  Steve can be reached at: steve.tallant at phillyhall *dot* net

Robert D. (Bob) Cassidy, Jr. has been named Secretary of the Foundation.  Bob has been a volunteer for the Hall since 2002, and was named to the Board in 2003.  He has driven several successful Hall programs, including multiple Induction Ceremonies, and the upgrading of the Hall’s merchandizing efforts.

“Having been involved so early with the effort, and now seeing our broad awareness and recognition in the community is unbelievably fulfilling,” said Cassidy.  “I am excited to be named an Officer, and simply cannot wait to see where the Hall can go over the coming years.”

Bob is a graduate of Villanova University and is Senior Director of Distribution for Raymour & Flanagan.  Bob and his family reside in Mount Laurel, New Jersey.  Bob can be reached at:  robert.cassidy at phillyhall *dot* net

Daniel (Dan) Fahy has been named Treasurer of the Foundation.  Dan has been a volunteer for the Hall since 2004, and was named to the Board in 2006.  The Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame Golf Classic would never have started, and been so successful without Dan’s diligent leadership of it.

“Anyone can be interested in the Hall, but I’m most proud of tangibly contributing to the Hall’s growth,” said Fahy.  “Being named a Hall Officer is a great honor for me, as it reflects my efforts in the past, and my interest in really pushing the Hall forward towards the future.”

Dan is a graduate of Saint Joseph’s university and is Senior Recruiter, Executive Recruiting & Corporate Services for BearingPoint. Dan resides in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania.  Dan can be reached at:  daniel.fahy at phillyhall *dot* net
