Philadelphia Prepares to Honor Another Class of its Greats
PSHOF Class VII Ceremony Nears Capacity
PHILADELPHIA, PA – The Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame’s seventh Induction Ceremony approaches with seating to the event selling quickly.
On Thursday November 11, 2010 at the Sheraton Society Hill, the Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame’s Class VII will be inducted.
Anticipated attendees from this year’s class include Phillies Wall of Famer Dick Allen, NBA Hall of Famer Phil Jasner, Sixers great Bobby Jones, native Philadelphian and National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame coach Jim Phelan, Eagles Honor Roll inductee Mike Quick and many supporters of the first organization inducted as a Legacy of Excellence – the Lighthouse Boys Club.
This year’s class will surely be joined by other members of the PSHOF’s roster of inductees. Past attendees include Eagles greats Chuck Bednarik and Tommy McDonald, Temple coach John Chaney, Flyers great Bill Barber and former heavyweight champ Joe Frazier.
This year’s event will also mark a unique format change, featuring a two-hour gourmet reception followed by the induction ceremony.
“Our Induction Ceremony receptions have become one of the most exciting evenings on the Philadelphia sports calendar”, said Hall President Ken Avallon. “We’ve worked to create a format that will allow our supporters to afford hours of enjoyment, rubbing elbows with the heroes of our sporting past.”
In addition to the Induction Ceremony and Reception, attendees may also participate in a silent auction as well as view a museum exhibit featuring items from Inductees and the Hall of Fame’s unique collection of Philadelphia sports artifacts.
