Philly Sports Hall of Fame Holding 7th Induction Ceremony
New Venue, Format for Inductee Class VII
PHILADELPHIA, PA - Legendary Philadelphia sports figures are gathering Thursday November 11, 2010 at the Sheraton Society Hill for the Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame’s Class VII Induction Ceremony and Reception. The Hall of Fame’s 7th class includes: Bobby Jones, Bobby Shantz, Dick Allen, Elizabeth Becker, Hobey Baker, “Jersey” Joe Walcott, Jim Phelan, Leroy Kelly, Marianne Stanley, Mike Quick, Phil Jasner, Ron Hextall, Tom Brookshier, Tug McGraw, William Hyndman III and the Lighthouse Boys Club as Legacy of Excellence Inductee.
This year’s event returns to its original host, the Sheraton Society Hill in Philadelphia. The Induction is preceded by an exciting two hour reception with the Inductees and Philadelphia Sports History as the theme, featuring hors d'oeuvres, cocktails and entrée stations.
“Over the years we’ve received such great feedback on the reception that we extended it and enhanced it with entrée stations, allowing guests to dine as they choose”, said Hall Board Member Dr. Pete Georgelos. “The vast majority of our guests attend to socialize with friends and family or network, and then enjoy the Induction. The Sheraton worked with us to develop a program to create a uniquely memorable experience”
In addition to the Induction Ceremony and Reception, attendees may also participate in a silent auction as well as view the museum exhibit featuring items from Inductees and the Hall of Fame’s unique collection of Philadelphia sports artifacts.
