Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame Seeking Sponsorship for Mobile Museum

With a growing collection of sports memorabilia, the Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame has initiated a campaign to create a mobile museum.

The Hall of Fames collection of Philadelphia sports material includes old-time game programs, newspapers, magazines, posters, antique sports equipment, pennants, photographs and many other items dating from late 1890s to the present. The Hall of Fame also boasts a Veterans Stadium collection, including turnstiles, ticket windows, lockers, sections of the outfield wall, seats, railings and large segments of the turf playing surface. More recent donations include the original foundry molds for some of the statues at Citizens Bank Park.

Our ultimate goal is to build a permanent, interactive, state of the art Hall of Fame and Museum in Philadelphia,” said Steve Tallant, director of the Hall of Fames mobile museum. Though we have the support of the Governor and Mayor, given the scope of the project, the funding required, and the political realities in the city, we realize it requires a long-term plan. The mobile museum provides us a way to publicly display our wonderful collection and to bring the Hall of Fame to the people today.”

The unofficially named Hall on Wheels” will travel throughout the Delaware Valley, stopping at professional, college and high school sporting events, festivals, fundraisers and schools. The tour will stress the Hall of Fames community programs, including a new program for public donation of sports memorabilia.

The Hall of Fame is actively seeking corporate sponsorship at all levels from local, regional and national organizations.

We are seeking corporate alliances with key organizations that are ready to partner with us, as we embark on this unique venture,” continues Tallant. Numerous sponsorship opportunities exist at all levels, with finding a primary presenting sponsor a main objective. Other sponsorship opportunities include: vehicle acquisition, conversion, maintenance, marketing, design, concessions and storage.”

Prior to the launch of the mobile museum in the fall, an interactive virtual museum will be established at the Hall of Fame web site highlighting memorabilia from the permanent collection. The virtual museum is available on-line at:
